Our Mission

In March of 2020, Michael found purpose after being laid off from his position as a power engineer for Marriott Hotels. Helping friends build decks, a skill learned from his father, Duane, quickly turned into a series of referrals. Formalizing their venture, Michael registered as a sole proprietor, naming the company D&M Contracting to pay homage to Duane. From July 2020 to May 2023, they built a reputation for prioritizing the personal touch over the bottom line.

In 2023, Michael and Duane re-branded to Brookside Construction, a name that better represented their history - renovating their family home together on Brookside Drive.

Finally, in 2025, Michael and Duane have narrowed their services to focus only on basement developments, full basement renovations, and basement suites, and changed names one final time to Brookside Basements.

In 2025, Duane and Michael redefined their identity as Brookside Basements. The name holds significance as Brookside Drive, their home street, became a learning ground. Duane imparted extensive knowledge, covering cabinet installations, flooring, windows, deck building, roofing, and more. This hands-on journey, marked by shared experiences, shapes Brookside Basement's expertise and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
